Hi! I’m Karen Juhl, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Restore’s outpatient team. Life can be challenging, and my desire is to join individuals on their journey of finding hope and healing from whatever life circumstances have come their way, past or present. I believe in working collaboratively with individuals to help them meet their goals, whether it’s managing adjustment issues or deeper trauma from the past. I use a variety of treatment modalities to assist in this process based on what is seen as most helpful to the client. But I especially like to help clients look at the relationship between thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors, and to learn skills to manage these.
My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and a Master’s in Social Work with a clinical focus from Temple University. Over the past 30-plus years of clinical experience, I have also had specialized training in many areas and have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, mood disorders, trauma/PTSD/sexual abuse, anger/emotional regulation issues, grief and loss, substance use/dependency, codependency/boundaries concerns, ADHD, relationship struggles, and end of life concerns.
I have worked in a variety of settings throughout the years that have encompassed most of the life span–a residential facility for at-risk boys, retirement communities serving the mental health needs of older adults, hospice, and currently in the outpatient setting working with adult individuals.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends. I can be found at breakfast or a coffee shop, church, playing games, enjoying music and movies, or out shooting wildlife and landscapes with my camera.
